Virtual AI Receptionist

The challenge

A visitor arriving at a town hall usually needs the same few things: to find the right meeting or conference room, to register their arrival, and to have the employee they are visiting notified.

Without a staffed reception this easily becomes both confusing for the visitor and interruption-driven for employees.

The solution

A life-size virtual receptionist was created to guide the visitor through arrival.

The solution combined software development with conversational and AI technology, and was designed to stand in the physical reception environment itself – which places different demands than an app: it has to work for someone walking past, with no instructions and no login.

The result

Visitors can handle their own arrival, and employees are told when their visitor has arrived.

The project is an example of digitalising a physical workflow – where the software meets the visitor in the room rather than in an app.
